Wedding card matter in Hindi (शादी कार्ड मैटर), with samples
Ready-to-use Hindi wedding card matter for a daughter’s or son’s wedding: invocation, family lines, function schedule and short WhatsApp versions.
The short answer
Hindi wedding card matter (शादी कार्ड मैटर) usually follows a fixed order: an invocation such as ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥, the inviting family, the bride’s and groom’s names with their parents, the date and muhurat, the schedule of functions, the venue, and finally the names of the family members who await the guests. Below are complete samples you can copy and adapt.
The structure of a Hindi wedding card
Traditional Hindi cards read almost like a ritual in themselves. Each part has a name, and many printers and families follow this order:
- मंगलाचरण (invocation): a line or shloka to Lord Ganesha or the family deity, for example ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥.
- निमंत्रक (hosts): the parents or grandparents who are inviting, often with “सादर आमंत्रित करते हैं”.
- वर-वधू (the couple): the names of the bride and groom, with “सुपुत्री” (daughter of) or “सुपुत्र” (son of) and the parents’ names.
- शुभ मुहूर्त (date and auspicious time): the wedding date and the muhurat fixed for the ceremony.[2]
- कार्यक्रम (functions): tilak, haldi, mehndi, sangeet, baraat, pheras and reception, each with date, time and venue.
- स्थान (venue): the full address of the venue or the family home.
- दर्शनाभिलाषी / स्वागतोत्सुक: the relatives who are eager to welcome the guests.
- बाल मनुहार (optional): a playful line from the children of the family.

The pheras are the heart of a Hindu wedding: the couple walks around the sacred fire, and the saptapadi, the seven steps, seals the marriage.[1] That is why many cards print the time of the pheras separately from the reception.
